Perfect Body?
'Fat' and 'Skinny' are two terms that are loosely used, by this is mean they are said without real thought, in my eyes 'Fat' and 'Skinny' are both perfect. Perfect is seeing the up-sides and down-sides of something and learning to accept both and love it. Who can define what 'Fat' is or what 'Skinny' is? those terms are both as equally as hurtful in my eyes even though they mean different things.
For most people weight or body shape is a struggle, it always has been for me. Especially being a teenager, media has such a massive impact on me personally. But it is important to realise that our 'imperfections' are what makes us unique, we are all individuals made of the same substance, most of us just don't recognise that it is okay to be yourself.
They say no body is 'perfect', however, one could argue 'perfection' is in the eye of the be-holder, just as beauty. The important thing to remember is that no matter what shape or size you are you need to be happy. If you love chocolate eat the chocolate (this doesn't mean 10 bars a day) but do what is right for you, don't feel pressured by someone else's judgement. In my eyes everyone is beautiful (soppy soppy).
Thank you so much for reading, em x

The Future
Have you ever just wondered why you were put on this earth? (apart from the fact you were made, but lets not get into that story) this may seem like a deep thought its just many people say they were put here for a 'reason', i guess we all have that in us. But whats your reason? Im constantly being bombarded with talk of My future; what do you want to be? what courses are you taking at college? are you going to uni? When really i have no clue. I mean i know what im interested in (makeup, fashion, beauty and other non-materialistic things) but not necessarily when it comes to academics. When we grow, most of us have to attend some form of education, but text books dont always give you a clear answer as to how your life will pan out. Im kind of lost when it comes to what courses i want to take (well i want to take A-levels thats my first step, cries) there are a few courses im leaning towards, however, i cant decide whats right for me.
How do i know whats right for me when i dont even know what i want out of college? (apart from a few A-levels in something)
If you are like me and are kind of lost, i suggest just trying to be positive, work hard in what you do. I want to get the best grades i can so i have a record of them for life (just as anyone these days). I strongly dislike school (apart from the social side) but it is my foundation to this Mystical and Magic 'Future' of mine. I just have to keep pushing through it. The upside are my great hobbies; blogging, shopping (when im not poor), family&friend time and make up. I suggest finding something you love, and doing it in your free time (unless you have homework, just get it out of the way first) its important to have time for yourself. It doesnt have to be expensive, it could be something like a new sport, singing or watching Disney films, its really a personal preference. I also like to go to the gym a few times a week to keep in shape, i love the gym as it really helps release any stress and i can be independent which i really enjoy.
As much as it can be hard not to worry about your 'Future' its best to be open minded, if you are negative others can instantly detect it and can feed them negative thoughts (fair enough we all have 'one of those days') Just keep looking at all options and dont dismiss any.
I hope this helped, lots of love em x

September Favourites (new products)
Hey petals, so I know it's a little early but I thought I'd do my September favourites, I've never written a favourites before, but there are so many products ive been loving (when isnt there) i also recently picked up a few items and i know they will definitely be my holy grail products. So i hope you enjoy, please leave a comment below with your recommendations or favourites for this month! x
My First favourite of this month, is Mac's Mineralise skin finish in 'light scapade', i keep reaching for this product daily as it is super natural on the skin. I think this is my favourite skin finish that Mac sells as it is a beautiful champagne colour and i wish they would make more.
This next product is a recent purchase of mine, its the Loreal Skin Perfection Purifying Solution. I love this product so much because it feels like water, Its supposedly a dupe for 'Bioderma' and retailing at £3.33 you cant go wrong! Id say its a pretty good dupe, it certainly does the job and leaves your skin feeling super fresh!
I have had this next product for ages, i used to be obsessed with it 'Lover Dose by Diesel'
It was my signature scent at one point, but since winter is on its way i decided to give it a try, and now i love it again, it smells of strong liquorish and vanilla when you first spray it but once it settles it has a sweet lingering of vanilla, mandarin with a subtle floral hint (perfect for me) id definitely recommend it
Next is this eye cream by Estee Lauder called 'Time Zone'. I don't particularly have dark circles, however, my under eye area tends to get very dry, and also quite puffy (lack of sleep i guess), but i do love this product, i would say that an i eye cream is essential in your skin care routine as eyes are so delicate, so if your looking for one to try, this is a nice option as it is very light and creamy so it doesn't weigh your under eyes down.
My last favourite of the month is this Disney film 'Wreck it Ralph' this is one of my all time favourite films, i love Disney so much! In my opinion you can be any age to love a good Disney film! You better watch it, im not telling you the story line!
hope you enjoyed! lots of love em x

Lessons i have learnt
Whilst listening to The XX (click here for a listen) its hard not to think about past experiences and whats still to come in life, so i thought i would write about lessons i have learnt from experience to help guide me into the future, of course we are still learning every day but maybe this could be helpful, hope you enjoy x
Comparing: of course it is a natural instinct to compare yourself to others, as i have already mentioned in a previous post , it is important to recognize that everyone has a different journey and some started their journey before others, embrace the little things and work your way up
Body Image: this can be a very sensitive subject for most people, however, after watching a video on body image recently, i learnt that we shouldn't be defined by a 'size' we should dress for our shape, everyone has a different shape and we shouldn't be ashamed of it, of course everyone has days where they hate their thighs however, you should dress for the way something looks, for the fit you desire not because you feel the need to be a certain 'size'
Self worth: its only recently i have started to recognize its important to value yourself, by this i mean dont feel you are 'below' anyone, everyone is equal, i used to let anyone walk over me as i felt intimidated by others, i would focus on only what other people wanted me to do rather than do what i wanted, one day i just sat and thought 'by feeling below others, am i happy?' so i started to become more confident with what i wanted to do and now i focus on what makes me happy
Hope this helped, lots of love em x

I love drugstore makeup tag
As Im on a roll with blogging today, I thought I would do a tag, I chose 'drugstore' makeup as it can be reasonably priced for begginers, hope you enjoy!
What's your favourite drugstore makeup brand?
This is hard questions as I like many different brands for different products, I would have to say Rimmel since they have an amazing range of very pigmented and affordable lip products, they carry a nice range of foundations and their cult 'stay matte' powder
What are your favourite face, cheek and lip products?
I would have to go with Revlon's colour stay foundation, I use the formula for oily skin and it lasts all day, for cheeks I would go for sleek, as their blushers and bronzers are so pigmented and very good value for money, and for lips I'd definitely stick with Rimmel lipsticks (especially the Kate moss line) the formula is very creamy (the matte shades are my favourite and even they aren't drying)
What is your least favourite product from the drugstore?
For this I would have to pick Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, I love this product on other skin types, however, my skin is oily and I end up looking like a chip shop after an hour of wearing it, it looks lovely on normal/dry skin, and gives a dewy finish but doesn't work for me (sad I know)
What is the best makeup bargain?
Oo, for this I'm going with MUA's heaven and earth palette, with this product you get 12 neutral shades (all satin finish) they are so pigmented and quite easy to blend, this is a great product for makeup beginners and only costing £4 you can't go wrong
What is your favourite underdog product?
Underdog, I would have to say Collection 2000 Creme Puffs, they have a creamy texture when first applied, and dry matte, the pigmentation and lasting power is great, (maybe similar to the NYX soft matte lip creams) I love them
What is a drugstore product that is over priced?
Eye liners, I find that some can be super over priced for what they are, especially when they go streaky when applied or start to crumble (mine tend to dry out) some are £8-9 to be honest I'd rather spend a few pounds more in Mac and invest in something that will last, and won't dry out
What is your favourite drugstore dupe?
This wasn't hard to choose, maybelline colour tattoos are my first choice, they are so similar to mac paint pots, you really can't go wrong as both Maybelline colour tattoos and Mac paint pots are a great investment for beginners as there are no tools required
What drugstore product isn't worth the hype?
No7. Beautifully Matte foundation, I find this product is great for my skin type, however, it oxidises so much and looks patchy throughout the day time (very orange)
I tag, Sins and Sparkles, LauraLouiseBell and everyone else I follow x
Hope this helped, and hope you enjoyed! Lots of love em x

A read for a Rainy Day
Hey Petals, today I thought I would Write a post about self worth, there are probably a million posts on this, however people have different perspectives on this topic (if you don't like a slice of cringe, I suggest trying a slice of cheese cake) - Olivia
In life everywhere you go people will love you, people will hate you and people will be oblivious to your existence, the one thing I used to find hard was accepting that, over the years I have found it really hard to accept who I am, or who I'm becoming, I guess that's because of experiences people go through in life, everyone has a different journey and it is so important to remember that. The thing I struggle with the most is comparing myself to the person next to me, of course I am still discovering new things about myself each day just as anyone, but sometimes you fade into the darkness and only see someone else's light, it makes you feel worse and worse and almost consumed.

This is one famous quote, which really hit me like a tonne of iced teas, it really is true, "Don't compare your start to someone else's middle" everyone takes different paths, which lead to different outcomes, if you spend a lot of time comparing yourself to others so much that it makes you feel worse, you need to step out of that mindset and realise what is in front of you, just remember that the only way you can reach the finish line is by taking the first step. This may all seem easier said than done, but once you cross the first line, it becomes easier to keep running. Remember practice makes perfect, don't forget that everyone has down days (I find Reeses peanut butter cups are a good healer) its only human, realising what you have isn't about the big things, it can often be about the little things that amount to a lot.
If you haven't fallen asleep by now, thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed em x

Being Optimistic
Greetings, so summer is ending and it's nearly time for me to be back at school and as the days pass on so do the seasons, in autum/winter I love fashion and make up even more (who would of thought) but I tend to lack optimism in general, maybe im just lazy or it could be the cold weather and school work (especially this year, more gcses's here I come) so today I thought I would just write a post on some ways to help stay optimistic and positive (even when it rains on the day you wanted to wear sandals)
Tip number one
Count up all of the little happy things that happen to you throughout the day, in my case (I had a bottle of iced tea, I went for a walk and laughed so much i almost wet myself) the little things count the most as they add up to a large amount of positivity, try not to see your glass half-empty and see it as half full, it may sound easier than it is but if you are in a situation where you start to feel negative, try to take a brighter outlook on what's happening (try to have the mindset that some others have it worse than you) remember the positive aspects
Tip number two
Aim to eat right, by this I meal eat breakfast, lunch and dinner , I must admit we are only human and sometimes we under eat or over eat, personally I like to eat three meals a day and try to not snack inbetween, what you eat is completely up to you, i reccomend eating a good variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates within your diet (not for every meal, unless you want to) as you all know your body and brain need energy to be healthy, eating veggies can help make you feel more alive (if I don't eat three meals a day I am a grumpy girl, eating can instantly energise you)
Tip number three
Try to be compassionate, whether its to a friend, family member or a member of the public, just try it
Its all about being kind to others or even someone in need (for example a homeless person) as cheesy as this sounds, I find watching someone else be happy, or being kind (walking an elderly person across the road or grabbing an iced tea for someone on the top shelf) can make me feel happy even if I'm not the one helping, so next time you see someone in need or maybe just your friend always show compassion (you may have those days where you hate anything and everything, but there's no harm in trying)
Tip number four
Smile, whether you are feeling happy or not, just smile. Whenever I do my mood intstantly feels lifted, so smile all of the time, whenever you get the opportunity (show those pearly whites) smiling is a cycle, smiling reinforces happiness, and happiness causes smiling.
Thank you so much for reading, just remember these are my ways to feel more optimistic, let me know your thoughts! I hoped they helped, lots of love em x

Recent Purchases
Hey Petals! Today i thought id share a few recent items i have purchased over the last month, mainly for my shopping splurge with Olivia, i have been on a few shopping trips and picked up bits that i love, i guess this is more of a haul but hey-ho, lets get started i hope you enjoy! (don't forget money doesn't grow on trees, some items were gifts and others i bought with my own money)
Mineralise
Mineralise
The first product i purchased was this Mineralise skinfinish from the 'Tropical Taboo' Collection by Mac. Its called 'Adored' as soon as i saw it i fell in love and i had to get my hands on it! Retailing at £22 this may seem a bit pricey , however, they last ages and are very flattering on the skin when reflected by light. This shade is beige with Pink flecks, (very versatile) pop some on the tops of the cheek bones, temples, down the nose and cupids bow for a beautiful glow (love love love)
The next Product i picked up was the very well loved 'Nars Laugna Bronzer' this product is always raved about an ive always wanted to try it (i basically live on a desert island lol) i traveled an hour for this baby! This Bronzer is matte with a few flecks of shimmer (hardly noticeable if you like your matte shades as i do) its very versatile and i think would suite many skin tones. Retailing at £26 i would say it is worth the money, it has great longevity and pigmentation, also the packing is super sturdy so will help prevent breakage.
Mac mineralise skinfinish 'Adored' on the left and Nars 'Laguna' on the right
Next i picked up Benefit 'They're Real' Mascara, this is one product i will forever re-purchase, after getting a free sample in an 'Elle' Magazine a few months ago i new i couldn't go without it. Retailing at £19.50 seems ridiculous for a mascara (mascara's mascara right? apparently not) this makes such a dramatic difference, it volumises and separates the lashes. The wand is plastic (i normally go for natural hair bristles with mascara but this is amazing) i definitely recommend this to anyone, besides the packaging is adorable and it lasts ages, (ive been using a travel sized one for months and only recently ran out)
Next i picked up two lipsticks from Mac
The first (above) is called 'Lady Danger' this is an orange toned matte red, i love this shade with a neutral eye. Id say this colour is pretty versatile with many skin tones and lasts well on the lips with a lip liner or by itself (it can be drying so i recommend applying a lip balm before)
The second (above) is called 'Candy Yum Yum this is a neon pink with a magenta under tone (the picture does not do this colour any justice so i recommend swatching it.) This colour is matte with a velvet finish (perfect, there is no colour like this) In my opinion this colour suites a wide range of people, if you want to be bold this is one colour for your collection.
'Lady Danger' below and 'Candy Yum Yum' above,
both retailing for £15 (a little pricey, but fantastic for a high end lip product)
You may not wear these bold shades every day, so they will last a long time.
Next i picked up a Hollister body spray called 'Cresent bay' and a body lotion called 'Malibu Beach' Personally i don't wear Hollister clothing, however, i always re-purchase something from the body care line. The 'Cresent bay' body spray is always in my hand bag as it smells so amazing (like skittles and rainbows) i always get complimented when i wear this, as i like to have it with me so i can feel refreshed throughout the day. The 'Malibu beach' body lotion is also amazing, it smells of Almonds (just like marzipan), it feels very creamy on the skin and absorbs well. Both products last all day, retailing for £12, id say its totally worth the money as they last so long (i re-purchase one spray a year and use it on a weekly basis) these are products i always re-purchase.
Last of all, my lovely Mum bought me this super cute Nemo mug from the Disney Store, (Finding Nemo being my favourite film of course) Now i can enjoy a nice coffee with Nemo!
Thank you so much for reading, i hope you enjoyed! (in no way was i trying to brag about any items, it took me months to save up and be able to purchase these items)
lots of love em x

Confessions Of A Shopaholic Tag
So it's kinda late in the evening and I fancied doing a tag (why not) Every body loves tags right? (right? thought so) I guess you will find out, I hope you enjoy this as much as I do writing it, besides I have a few confessions to make..
Here we go
1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Definitely, I find browsing at products (highstreet and highend) takes me to another world (so therapeutic) I find making a purchase so hard to resist
2. How would you classify your style?
Feminine yet edgy (I'd like to think so) by edgy I mean wearing a biker jackets not a jacket for a biker , I love oversized tees with high waisted jeans aswell, and occasionally I rock a blouse
3. What store can you not leave with out at least buying one thing?
This is pretty easy for me, Topshop (sooo predictable) I have an obsession with their frilly socks since i nearly own every pair (why just buy one when you can have soo many?) it's like my second home
4. Where do you find the best deals?
Boots, it's very common you will find a 3 for 2 deal in boots, when make up is on offer, it's in my shopping basket, im a sucker for deals (especially on when lipsticks are involved) I'm always in and out of boots so it's great when I can save money (every penny counts)
5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
I tend to splurge on makeup as I live soo far away from a Mac or Nars counter so when I get the opportunity to go to one, I spend money like I breathe oxygen it's lethal sometimes, but I don't regret a minute of makeup madness
6. Do you have a go-to shopping outfit?
A dress and a Leather Jacket or My favourite High Waisted Jeans from Topshop called 'Joni' jeans, comfortable yet stylish
7. What's your guilty pleasure?
Frilly socks with Converse
8. What is one stapel clothing piece you can't live without?
Leather Jacket (must have item) h&m have some great ones at the moment
9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Oversized tees with a chunky chain
10. What trend did you think passed away quickly?
Kaki, love this colour, will be back in for Autum (I hope)
11. Who is your fashion icon?
I like changing my style, as I don't stick to a particular trend, but if I had to choose it would be Rhianna (due to oversized tees and a bold lip)
So there you have it. I hope you enjoyed reading! I enjoyed writing, this tag was fun to do. Hope you are enjoying the last of the warm weather! Lots of love em x

Flowers and Freckles?
Hey guys! I thought i would do a blog post about why my blog is called 'Flowers and Freckless'. It may seem pretty obvious, but i have had a few questions asking about it. (i will try to make this as 'un-boring' as possible.) Hope you enjoy and thank you for reading!
'Flowers'
Flowers may seem like a typical symbol of beauty, however i thought i would incorporate the word into my name because personally for me they represent so much more (excuse the cliche).
Each flower grows at its own pace, just like people, which shows that you shouldn't compare your start to someone elses middle as everyone as their own journey. It also reminds me that everyone is different. Flowers all look different and have different shapes, sizes and colours. Life for me is all about expression (through makeup and fashion) flowers can be bright and lively, or some simplistic and delicate.
So, if they are perceived as beautiful, then we all should value ourselves and recognize beauty in ourselves. Lastly, (its nearly over i feel your pain) flowers have different parts, i interpret this as though each part of the flower is symbolic of stages in someones journey.
'Freckles(s)'
'Freckles are clusters of concentrated melanin which are most often visible on people with a fair complexion.'
I decided to incorporate the word 'freckles' into my name because ever since i was younger, i have always had a few freckles on my nose, i know this is quite common with most people (sorry guys not too original) but, it reminded me of who i was then, compared to now. Even though i have changed physically and emotionally, i will still have my childhood in me, just like everyone right? For me it reminds me to remember who i am and where i come from, and how im still changing to find myself. (cliche once again but its true)
Now a quick response (please leave your answer in the comments)

'Flowers'
Now a quick response (please leave your answer in the comments)

face of the day
Hiya guys! Just thought i would do a little post letting you all know what makeup products i used today!
I went for a flawless face with a neutral eye and a pink lip.(my attempt to look summery) I just went out for lunch and went window shopping (unfortunately i had to resist the temptation of shopping as im saving up, painful for a shopaholic) However, really enjoyed using these products today, they were very wearable and perfect for an everyday look. Hope you enjoy!
Foundation
The first product i used today was Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation (stay in place makeup). Retailing at £27.50, Id definitely say it is worth the money. The foundation is full coverage and buildable (you dont even need a concealer, but feel free to use one! i still do). For someone who has suffered with acne i would say this product is suitable for oily/combination skin. The finish is more matte to satin than dewy on the skin, so might flake on dry skin. However, if you have normal skin and love a full coverage foundation this is one to try! The consistency is quite runny, but drys quickly. It doesn't come with a pump so can be quite inconvenient, and hard to control the amount of product you want to use. (But to be honest im not too fussed). The foundation comes in a range of shades so is available for most people to purchase. The longevity of the product is superb in my opinion, I would say it lasts a good 10-14 hours, You may need to blot the skin throughout the day if you don't set the foundation with a powder or setting spray after application (this is quite common with most foundations anyway). I haven't found that the foundation oxidises throughout the day, and it also contains SPF 10 which is a bonus and shouldn't be to harsh in pictures using flash photography. The product would be suitable for a weddings or big events to create a flawless look. I also think the packaging of the product is luxurious and looks expensive (it also looks very pretty in my makeup collection too) Overall, I would say this is a great product that I enjoy using on an everyday basis.
You can find this product online if you click here or instore from an Estée Lauder counter.
Today I used the colour 'Sin' in the inner corner, then 'Side Car' in the centre of the eye, 'Hustle' in the crease of my eye lid and Then 'Virgin' as a highlight underneath the brow bone. I love the combination of these colours, it looks so pretty (it looks like I spend hours on my eye makeup when it took 2 minutes)
With this product retailing at £36 I would definitely recommend purchasing this palette (I know you will love it as much as I do) it's a lovely palette to if you are starting a makeup collection and just want a 'go to palette' for everyday. (or even if you just experiment with basic shadows its very handy) this product is available online at an Urban Decay counter at sephora or debenhams, or click here to purchase online.

Bronzer
Today I skipped blush and rocked the bronzer. I used benefits well loved Hoola bronzing face powder. This product is great for all year round and suits a variety of skin colours
. I just applied a small amount in the hollows of my checks and onto my temples, it creates a defined yet natural look to the skin, it is also build able for a more Intense look).
This product is a matte shade, which means it has no shimmer (so for all of you matte gals and guys this is the one for you)
This product has great pigmentation, its not too powdery either and has a longevity of 5-6 hours depending on how much product is used.

This product retails for £21.50, overall I would recommend trying this bronzer (besides if its not your cup of tea there are plenty others to try) The packaging is also super cute
This product is available at a Benefit counter In store at Debenhams (for us UK&European guys and gals) and also Sephora (for you US guys and gals) or click here to purchase online.

Highlight
For my highlight i used Mac's famous mineralise skin finish in 'soft and gentle', another well loved product on the market. Im crazy about this product as i think it gives a beautiful finish to the skin. It has a subtle shimmer to it with slight gold flecks to it. I just apply on top of the cheek bones, down the centre of the nose, tops of the temples and the Cupid's bow. (The Areas where the sun would hit my face) It's very natural, 'healthy glow' on the skin that us guys and gals dream of. I would say it is suitable for a wide range of skin types. This product retails at £21.50 and is available at Mac in store or click here to purchase online. I would definitely recommend this product as you only have to used a small amount to get a subtle glow to the skin, its a lovely piece to have in your collection/makeup bag.
Shadow
The next product I used was the hyped-up naked palette by Urban Decay. (Its definitely worth the hype) I love this palette as it comes with a wide range of shades for creating everyday neutrals to an evening look. (My favourite looks super easy!) It comes with twelve shades, two matte shades and the rest shimmer shades. Shimmers are great for the centre of the lid and matte are perfect for a defined crease colour) The pigmentation is excellent, along with the longevity lasting 9-10 hours ( If prepped with an eye lid primer) It's a great palette for travelling as it has every colour you would need to create a neutral eye, or even something more daring.
(Smokey eye perhaps) Today I used the colour 'Sin' in the inner corner, then 'Side Car' in the centre of the eye, 'Hustle' in the crease of my eye lid and Then 'Virgin' as a highlight underneath the brow bone. I love the combination of these colours, it looks so pretty (it looks like I spend hours on my eye makeup when it took 2 minutes)

Mascara
The mascara i used was 17's 'VA VA VOOM'. This is a recent purchase of mine from my local drugstore 'Boots'. So far i have been enjoying this product as the thick wand adds volume and also helps too provide more length to the lashes. Im not a big fan of the packaging but hey-ho! (its just a mascara) I would recommend using a brown mascara if you want a subtle look on the eyes (more natural) and a black mascara if you want to achieve a more dramatic look.
This products retails for under £10,You can pick this product up online here
Lipstick
The last product i used today was this Moisture drench lipstick by No7. This is a great lip product, as it is very moisturizing and would suit many different skin tones. There are also a good range of colours to choose from. I picked up the colour 'Mulberry' as it's more of a red toned pink than blue (i tend to use this product when im not daring enough to wear my red lipstick, I also blot my lips with tissue, so theres not much product on the lips, i find it looks more flattering) This lip product has great pigmentation for a drug store lip product, and i would say its longevity lasts up to 4 hours (depending how much product is applied, and if you eat etc). Lastly, the packaging is lovely, it feels really expensive, its sleek and a great lipstick to have in your makeup bag for everyday use.
You can purchase this product here online. (sorry US)
Thank you for reading. Hope you enjoyed!
Look forward to the weekend!
love from em x
